Small deciduous trees to 7 m tall, branches with brownish retrorse hairs.
Leaves lanceolate to ovate, 7–22 cm long, 3–10 cm wide, apex acuminate to acute, base cuneate to obtuse, margin subentire or remotely serrate, teeth cuspidate, sparsely strigillose on both surfaces, without cycle of accessory cells; petioles 7–30 mm long. Inflorescences terminal.
Flowers white, subsessile. Calyx subcylindrical, with 10 distinct, longitudinal ribs, 3–5 mm long, ca. 4 mm in diameter, densely strigillose, minutely 5-toothed. Corolla tube 3–4 mm long. Stamens subsessile, with slightly exserted anthers.
Fruit ellipsoid, 7–12 mm long, 4–5 mm across.
